Day 3 ourika valley monday 13 april 2026
Today we are going on an adventure out the Ourika Valley, one of many in the Atlas mountains.
Fairly low in the mountain but high enough to host a pretty waterfall.
We meet our bus at 9am about a 5 minute walk away and get comfy for a trip of about an hour out of Marrakesh.
The traffic out of Marrakesh is crazy but we finally emerge.
Its nice being on this little bus ( with a bunch of very noisy French people)
The views ahead are of the beautiful snow capped mountain range with Morocco just coming out of winter.
Very pretty but hard to capture.
First stop was the very busy car park beside the river with these little mini tourist buses going everywhere.
I guess we wont be the only ones here today…
Our mission before we have lunch by the river is to complete a 1 and half hour hike up to Sti Fadma or the top of the waterfall that we can get to by foot.
Not a patch on our Purlingbrook but pretty all the same.
The hike was a little unexpected, being very steep and narrow in places.
Essentially clambering over rocks. Mountain goat Stuart was all over it lending some assistance to his less than nimble wife when required.
All in all it really was fabulous, the views were stupendous.
Pretty grateful to have made it back down again safely.😁
Time for lunch beside the river. It was the photos of this lunch that inspired us to take this trip. Very pretty.
Food not fabulous but that is beside the point.
Back in our wee bus and now the population of tourist buses is threefold. The traffic jam to move is packed until a very smartly dressed police man arrives to take charge. Slowly we move.
Next stop is the obligatory Argen oil woman co operative visit.
Another opportunity to stock up on our natural Botox, although i’m not seeing any improvement.
Maybe it’s not really true.
Made our way through the Monday afternoon peak hour traffic to be dropped off and walk home to our Riad
Dinner at yet another rooftop restaurant as the sun was setting, i think there were people there just finishing lunch.
Entertained by a couple of musicians, which was pleasant but home to bed after a really fun day
