Day 8 18th April Marrakesh
This morning has been a little unplanned.
I did keep saying that we had a free day in the itinerary so as to be able to catch up with any unfinished shopping business.
As we were finishing breakfast we had a call from our friend Philippa who had been up early and already at the conference.
Unfortunately she has had a fall and been taken to hospital in an Ambulance.
When we spoke, she has injured her ankle but otherwise ok.
We need to spring into action tho as she requires her passport which is in her hotel room safe.
We gather that then head to the hospital to find her.
Driving through a very affluent part of Marrakesh. The houses are beautiful and enormous.
We arrive and find our friend who thankfully has only a nasty sprain but she is travelling on her own so this will make life a little difficult for her.
We settle her back at the Hotel and provide life saving coffee before heading back to our side of town.
Quiet afternoon blogging and packing before heading out for our last meal here in marrakesh.
But first we had our last little walk through the souks.
A little more shopping for all that is essential, the downside of travelling with a back pack is the limited shopping space.
Although i have managed to pack the rug that we weren’t buying in my carry on
Tonight we are going back to the restaurant where we had our first meal on arrival in Marrakesh but were too tired to appreciate it all and it will be a nice place to see the sun set.
Tomorrow back to London for a cheeky overnight at an airport hotel and we’re yet to see Harry and Tina. Soon tho
On reflection, Marrakesh is an interesting place, certainly one foot in the past with narrow lanes and souks (markets), apparent mud brick houses, however it is prosperous, no visible crime and people seem happy and apparently the water is safe to drink. Still getting over the 2023 earthquake, but plenty of cranes/building underway. The people are friendly and in the main genuine.
I hope it remains this way,
inshallah. (إن شاء الله)
