Day 21 , 1st May 2026 Denizili to Bodrum

Early bus to Bodrum today, or at least that was the plan. Typical Turkish savoury breakfast in hotel, then short walk to otogari (bus station).

They seem to operate like an ants nest, everyone just doing their job. There is no big boards informing what buses are or where, or when arriving or leaving.  When our bus didn’t appear, one of the apparent station workers told us 15’ late, after 30 minutes we went to the agents desk inside: cancelled! They were really helpful and organised another: nerve wracking waiting, not sure what’s happening. Particularly after handing 900TL to a chap, who kept saying “ no worry, no worry” despite us not having any tickets. Little worry.

A bus arrives, man says seat 28 and 29 and we’re off.

6 hours drive through small lots of farm land interspersed with large rocky hills. A few interesting things: anywhere around the Mediterranean there are periodically Roman ruins, sometimes just sitting in a field. We have also seen pipes running through fields, apparently this region produces an lot of electricity through geothermal process

I must admit these guys, SEC Buses have not rated highly on the coffee comparison.

Not offered until after at least 3 stops, just after we bought some and no biccies!

Arrived into the otogari and unfortunately not the one we thought, so we now need to catch a Taksi to where we are staying.

Kavala hotel run by a Turkish chap and his Australian wife, Jen.

Dumped the gear and headed off for a walk around.

The call for beers was a strong one after being hassled by the touts at the beachfront restaurants.

Dinner at arka pizza, it was just fabulous so i think i might find an excuse to go again tomorrow.

Slow wander back through all the people to our quiet little hotel up a lane
